A journal like report I written last time while I've been in Paris.
I hope you enjoy
We are leaving on a train ..
After a hectic departure in the morning, my family an I are sitting in a train that accelerates still, going faster and faster minute by minute. Our ears are filled by a "Wooooo" sound that is getting higher, no typical clack-clack clack-clack like well known from older trains, an new sound of a new time and new journey.
It did take long till we feel like flying through the almost green countrside-with yellow streks outside the window, it seems that place and time blurring.
The TGV is mix of a train and a airplane, but we are lucky to have a four-seater place with a table and - most importantly - sockets. ?
Now a small breakfaste
a coffee, a ham sandwich-life can be good.
I really looking forward to experiencing Paris, the first time seeing the Eiffel Tower, Sacre Cour, Montmartre, Notre Dame, the Seine and the bridges, the Champs-Elysée and the Arc de Triumphe, the Louvre and who knows what else ..
So much to see, and yet I am very calm and do not feel like wanting to see everything.
Relaxed mood while looking forward to a cosmopolitan city with anticipation.
An American in Paris
At Karlsruhe station, a lady sat down in the seating area. Blonde hair, tanned skin, white blue striped blouse, elegant watch and jewelry ... a buisness women so it seems.
So we sat side by side in silence, until we got into conversation sometime later.
People you get aquaint to in an a train do always have something special. Often the time you meet them is short but some memories of this meeting can last forever.
She is an American from New York with Kyrgyz roots, who works as a marketing manager for an international architecture firm, lives in Paris while her son goes to a school in Karlsruhe.
How fast you can talk to someone about big topics ..
about the development of society, about the great opportunities for Europe and the small-mindedness of all places, about what it means to be at home and what makes up home, about change and how the world is becoming more complex and how much people are longing for simple answers. ,
While traveling, the journey is the destination.
Every big city - Is a big city!
Louder, fuller, busier, more varied.
Other styles of clothing, signs, advertising!
So many different languages and smells.
I love it!
The hotel we stayes is "reduced to the max" - positive or spartan as you might call it.
A bed with bunk bed over the top, bright colors with maple laminate and reduced lime green furniture fronts, a shower, a sink, a vanity a loo, a TV. All on approximately 12-14 square meters. No luxury but a well place to sleep.
What are you really needs in life?
Pear ice cream & friends
A foreign city, a foreign language, not orientation, yet.
Those are the moments, after arriving on unknown territory,
where there's hardly anything more heartwarming than to see a familiar face - long time friends of us.
They invited us for lunch - the first time shopping in an intermarche in Paris, then we picked u some baguette in a boulangerie and finally cook lunch together: vegetable pan Provençal kind, pasta, baguette, rosé wine and for dessert pear ice cream and coffee ..
And suddently - although you have not seen each other for a longer time- your talking very intimitade about everyday life and politics, about life in and of itself.
Life is beautiful - if you live the moment.
