"With just one polka dot, nothing can be achieved. In the universe, there is the sun, the moon, the earth, and hundreds of millions of stars. All of us live in the unfathomable mystery and infinitude of the universe. Pursuing 'philosophy of the universe' through art under such circumstances has led me to what I call 'stereotypical repetition'." Yayoi Kusama
The circle is on of the primoridal forms humanity is using like the dawn of mankind. Unlike the square and the triangle, which are other primoridal froms the circle is perfect in symmetry. In Japanese language the sign maru stands for OK and Correct and it is used in most ship names..as the Japanes believe that ships complete a circle and return loved ones home safely.
Light is primoridal element of photography - but without the darkness the light won't be visible at all. In this series I explore the journey of circles of light -represented as dot- travelleing the seas of darkness. Some travel alone, some cluster or seem to explode and others seem to form tribes and collide with other tribes on their journey.
